Supply networks for extreme uncertainty: a resource orchestration perspective

چکیده

Purpose Disasters are growing in frequency and scale, unmasking the systemic vulnerabilities of modern supply chains highlighting need to understand how respond such events. In context an extreme event as COVID-19 pandemic, this research focuses on networks organizations leverage their combined resources capabilities develop, manufacture deliver new products outside traditional markets. Design/methodology/approach Following a theory elaboration process, authors build resource orchestration develop data collection analysis protocols support multi-case study design. This investigates four cases newly formed that emerged different countries – Colombia, Italy, United States Kingdom–in response pandemic. Findings These investigation share common characteristics terms motivation approach, creating patterns from which theoretical generalizations developed into series propositions regarding process network-level under uncertainty. Practical implications The shows within them can streamline processes, swiftly relationships balanced risk management approach Originality/value contributes by extending model network level showing uncertainty lead emergence alter motivations goals member organizations, allowing be more responsive.

Analyzing Bullwhip Effect in Supply Networks under Exogenous Uncertainty

This paper explains a model for analyzing and measuring the propagation of order amplifications (i.e. bullwhip effect) for a single-product supply network topology considering exogenous uncertainty and linear and time-invariant inventory management policies for network entities. The stream of orders placed by each entity of the network is characterized assuming customer demand is ergodic. In fa...

An Integrated Model for a Two-supplier Supply Chain with Uncertainty in the Supply

The objective of this paper is to study an integrated two-supplier supply chain whose suppliers are unreliable. An unreliable supplier is alternative between available (ON) and unavailable (OFF) states which are considered to be independent exponential variables. The suppliers apply a continuous review policy and the retailer uses an adapted continuous review base on an(R,Q) policy. Transportat...

Automated Cloud Resource Orchestration

AUTOMATED CLOUD RESOURCE ORCHESTRATION Changbin Liu Boon Thau Loo Realizing Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud requires a control platform for orchestrating the provisioning, configuration, management and decommissioning of a distributed set of diverse cloud resources (i.e., compute, storage, network) serving different clients. Cloud resource orchestration is challenging due to the rapid ...

Developing focal capabilities for e-commerce adoption: A resource orchestration perspective

Although an increasing number of manufacturing enterprises have engaged in e-commerce activities in recent years, there are few successful examples. We utilize the notion of resource orchestration as a theoretical lens through which to investigate the nature of the e-commerce adoption process. The findings generate a process model that can be used to explain how resources are orchestrated in th...

Risk Uncertainty and Supply Chain Decisions: A Real Options Perspective

Supply chain risk uncertainty can create severe repercussions, thus it is not surprising that research interest in supply chain risk has been growing. While extant inquiry is informative, there is a lack of investigations that center on supply chain investment decisions when facing high levels of risk uncertainty. Given the potential dollar value involved in these decisions, an understanding of...
